| Biography | Prof. Fariborz Haghighat is a professor at the Department of Building, Civil and Environmental Engineering – Concordia University, Canada. His current research focuses on the fundamental of heat and mass transport in the built environment, and on its applications in the design and analysis of energy-efficient, healthy/immune, and sustainable buildings/communities. Dr. Haghighat led two Annexes of the International Energy Agency (ECES/IEA); Annex 23 of the International Energy Agency “Appling Energy Storage in Buildings of the Future – Annex 23” and “Integration of Energy Storage with buildings and Communities: Optimization and Automation – Annex 31”. He has been involved in a number of the IEA projects, and responsible for several national and international projects. Professor Haghighat is a Fellow of the ASHRAE and an elected member of the International Academy of Indoor Air Science. He is the Editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Sustainable Cities and Society and the Co-Editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Energy and Built Environment, and a member of the Editorial Board of several international scientific journals. He has published more than 300 journal and conference papers and presented numerous talks on selected aspects of Energy and Environment. |

| Biography |
Prof. Ibrahim Guliyev is a prominent scientist in the fields of petroleum geology, geochemistry of natural gases, and mud volcanism. He graduated from the Azerbaijan Oil and Chemistry Institute (currently Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University) in 1970. He began his scientific career at the Institute of Geology of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS). Professor Guliyev received his PhD degree in 1978 and Doctor of Sciences degree in 1989. In 1999, he was awarded the academic title of Professor. He became a Corresponding Member of ANAS in 2001 and a Full Member in 2007. His research focuses on natural gas geochemistry, petroleum systems, and mud volcanism. Professor Guliyev conducted pioneering studies on gas emissions, mud volcano monitoring, and hydrocarbon systems in the South Caspian Basin. His scientific work contributed significantly to the discovery and investigation of submarine mud volcanoes and gas hydrates in the Caspian Sea. In recognition of his outstanding scientific achievements, he was awarded the first State Prize of the independent Republic of Azerbaijan in 2010. |

| Biography | Feridun Hamdullahpur, was the University of Waterloo's sixth president and vice-chancellor (2010-2021) and has been an engineer, educator and leader over the span of his career in research and higher education. Throughout his career, Professor Hamdullahpur has been an active researcher in thermo-fluids and energy engineering, a passionate teacher and an academic administrator. He was named a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering in 2014. He has served in various academic and administrative roles, including as a vice-president academic and provost at the University of Waterloo. Professor Hamdullahpur was named a Specially Elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada (RSC) in 2018. This designation recognizes individuals who have made exceptionally valuable contributions to promoting the objectives of the RSC in ways that contribute significantly to Canadian society. In acknowledgment of Professor Hamdullahpur’s leadership in education and innovation, he was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in January 2013. |
